Born and raised in Spring Valley, NY, a suburban area 25 miles north of New York City, I am a down to earth girl. Raised in a Caribbean household, I learned first hand how to get along with all and embrace diversity. . . "Everything is everything", "One love".

I moved to Raleigh in 2007 to attend NCCU Law School. With the demanding schedule of being a 1st year law student, I put that career path on hold. New to the Raleigh area, I obtained employment at a mental health agency. I worked one on one with adolescent girls. That is where I discovered my passion for helping others; especially adolescents. I decided to go back to school and obtain my Masters in School Counseling.

My passion for adolescents is enormous. I have been working with WCPSS since 2009. I have been at West Millbrook since 2016. I also have years of experience working with at-risk adolescents in the mental health field. This will be my 5th year as a School Counselor. I am excited to be a  part of the Wildcat family and helping our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. My philosophy is "ALL children are unique in their own way. Building relationships is key to their success. Listening and respect go a long way". ~April Leon
